A strange cache name you may think.
I know, the tree you are looking at, is a Hawthorn, not a wild rose!
But the poem by Elizabeth Gould, entitled Red is the Autumn, is a poem that I read aloud to my Mum, and we both enjoyed.
This cache is placed in memory of my Mum.
The poem is a beautiful Autumnal poem. I hope you'll agree if you look it up.
"Red are the hips, red are the Haws" being the start of the second verse.
You are looking for something hanging from the wall side of the tree. Camouflaged. You will need your own writing implement.
Please roll the log, and insert it into the LID.
I've tried to make this cache placement as easy as possible, but those thorns are to be watched out for!
This will be harder to find, obviously, when the tree is in leaf!
From here, continue along the wall to the corner, where a gate is hidden from view!
(*** See end of description if you would like to have a longer walk)
You will soon need to veer away from the Pennine Way, and pick up the path going north east.
Now look ahead of you. You are aiming to take the path where the little area of woodland will be to your right, and then the path veers around the trees, down the hill, and then a farm with large outbuildings, will be distant from you, but on your left.
Aim towards the stile at the bottom right hand corner of this field.
*** (NB at this point you can lengthen your walk if you wish, continue along the Pennine way for a short distance, then follow the footpath sign to Bell Busk, to this cache by another CO, http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3K9HK_avagander and return back along the Pennine way, to the point, where you will need to veer North east as above)
Many congratulations to the Kingham Family for their FTF, especially since this series was completed in the dark!
