Oscoda County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 8,640, making it the fifth-least populous county in Michigan. The county seat is Mio.
|
|
|
|
The county was founded in 1840 and organized in 1881. The name is a Henry Schoolcraft neologism thought to be a combination of two Ojibwa words, "ossin" (stone) and "muskoda" (prairie) -- hence 'pebbly prairie.
|
|
|
To find the geocache, you must follow these instructions:
1. Read through the count description. Let A = the square root of the last two digits in the year the county was organized. Let B = the third digit in the year the county was founded. Let C = the first digit in the year the most recent census was taken. Let D = the first digit in the population at the last census.
2. From the posted coordinates travel ABCD feet at a true north azimuth of 87.3 degrees.
