Kenya is located on the equator in eastern Africa. The country has a southeastern coastline along the Indian Ocean and shares land boundaries with Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. With a total area of about 224,962 square miles, the country is slightly larger than twice the size of the state of Nevada. Kenya is divided into seven provinces and one area.
