Geocache Description:

At 4,075 feet (1,242 m), Big Bald Mountain, is the highest peak in Gilmer County, Georgia. It is located within the boundaries of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Quite some time ago LZ33 and I were out in the Rich Mountain Wilderness Area and were scouting locations for some new caches. Big Bald was calling our name and we placed a cache near the bottom of the mountain, only to find it too close to some others. So later Phillips4 and I were back in the area, moved the cache and made the hike up to the summit to place a new one.

Although this is a great place to come and relax, be sure to know your surroundings and season. Be sure you know when to wear your orange!

Geocaching is prohibited during all quota and check-in hunts. Geocaching is also prohibited daily until after 10:00 AM during turkey season. Wildlife Resources Division organizes hunting all year except for the months of July & August.
