A newly constucted two-story "log" cabin for travel bugs to rest and pick up rides with new geocachers. There is a lot of vacancy in this lodge overlooking Muscovy Pond (a.k.a the nearby storm water retention pond). Rooms vary in size to accommodate different TBs.
My preschool geocaching partner and I started caching in March 2014 and this was the site of our very first find and I was sad to see it archived. It was a great spot for a larger sized containers and perfect for getting first-timers (and kids) excited about geocaching..especially in an urban setting with many micros. As a result, we decided to place a new cache in its place. The original was a large travel bug hotel that was damaged by bad weather and possible muggles. We've replaced it with a smaller lodge (it's in fact an old fishing tackle box with natural camo decorations) consisting of individual "rooms" for finding/leaving TBs easily. The log book is at the bottom of the box with lots of room for kid-friendly tradables. The new lodge was placed near the old hotel but not exactly in the same spot. Please replace as found or better.
Origin/Reason for cache name: Muscovy Ducks are common in this area but they are not native to Florida (native to Mexico and South America). They were originally introduced to man-made ponds (such as this one) to provide a natural feel to what would otherwise be sterile water bodies surrounded by homes/apartments with mowed lawns. Muscovies have been known to hybridize with mallard ducks which you may see in this pond as well.
