This cache is in honor of my equine "Buddy", Salim (Salim's Champion is his registered name.) Salim will be 32 years old (Apr. 2015) which is quite remarkable for a horse, and even more remarkable is that he can still take me on a quiet trail ride. Salim became mine in 1986, so we've been travelling the trails together for over 28 years. Long time to have a pet...what was the oldest age of a pet you ever had? One of my favorite adventures with Salim, was when we geo-cached the Menzies Trail in Golden Ears Park...the horses were confused and annoyed at first, as to why we were stopping every 160 meters, they soon accepted the routine...but I was majorly stiff the next day from climbing on and off of him 30+ times that day.
This beautiful recently completed section of the South Langley Regional Trail is for use by pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders. The trail will eventually link Campbell Valley Park with Aldergrove Lake Regional Park, with all the volunteer work being done the Aldergrove Chapter of the Back Country Horsemen of BC in partnership with the Township of Langley. Complete with two solid horse-friendly boardwalk bridges, the trail winds through a gorgeous wooded area, over low swampy land, and borders along peaceful farmland before ending at the busy Highway of 264th Street. The final portion of the South Langley Regional Trail is in the designing stages, and will complete the trail to Aldergrove Regional Park between 264th & 272nd Street. Congratulations to Bbybrd on FTF! Note: My Old Buddy passed away in January 2018 at the age of 35 ... we lived life together for 32 years. Lots of wonderful memories made in those 32 years. Rest in Peace my dear Salim, you were an incredible friend.
