Geocache Description:

For my Girl Scout Gold Award Project, I will be placing 27 caches throughout Hunterdon County, NJ. Hunterdon County celebrated its 300th Anniversary in 2014. (The Gold Award is the highest award that can be earned in Girl Scouts).

This series GS GA/TC: (Girl Scout Gold Award/Tri-Centennial), when complete, will consist of Alexandria, Bethlehem, Bloomsbury, Califon, Town of Clinton, Clinton Township, Delaware, East Amwell, Flemington, Franklin, Frenchtown, Glen Gardner, Hampton, High Bridge, Holland, Kingwood, Lambertville, Lebanon Borough, Lebanon Township, Milford, Raritan, Readington, Stockton, Tewksbury, Union, West Amwell and Caching For The Gold. There is no set order or any clues to collect.

Since you are Caching for the Gold, I included a brief description about how girl scouts was formed.

Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts, was born October 31, 1860, in Savannah, Georgia. Daisy, as she was known to family and friends.

When Juliette was young she developed what was to become a lifetime interest in the arts. She wrote poems, sketched, wrote and acted in plays and later became a skilled painter and sculptor. She had many pets throughout her life and was particularly fond of exotic birds, Georgia mockingbirds, and dogs.

In her teens, Daisy attended private schools in Virginia and later a French school in New York City. Following her school years she traveled extensively in the United States and Europe, broadening her education.

In 1911, Juliette met Sir Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides. At this time, Juliette became interested in this new youth movement. One year later she made her historic phone call to a friend saying, "I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight." Thus, on March 2, 1912, Juliette Low gathered 18 girls together to organize the first two American Girl Guide troops. Margaret "Daisy Doots" Gordon, her niece, was the first registered member. The following year the name was changed from American Girl Guides to Girl Scouts.

The cache is hidden a few feet off the Landsdown trail. Please replace as found. Use stealth.

Total length of this trail is approx. 1.5 miles and stretches from Franklin Twp. to the Town of Clinton. Once a spur line for the Lehigh Valley Railroad the trail is now used for hiking, bicycles, cross country skiing and walking the family dog. There is parking on Lower Landsdown Road or on the Service Road/Ramsey Road near trailhead if your are coming off of Rt. 78
