Freedom Square was founded on the site of a former cemetery from 1729. Today it is a place where locals have a rest and where the annual celebration of Independence Day takes place on 11/11. There are two statues of great Poles - Adam Mickiewicz (poet) and Marshall Józef Piłsudski - the main creator of Polish independance.
