This cache will bring you to one of the fire-fighting ponds dotted across the bush-clad hills. The cache name comes from a "dare" we used to make each other back when I was a teenager, when clambering around the hills surrounding Upper Hutt in the '80's. We'd come across various ponds like this and dare each other to swim across, and then to see "how many lengths" the other could do.
These days I would definitely choose NOT to swim in one of these! This cache is in no way an encouragement to swim here, and great care should be taken if children are brought up to this cache.
Whichever way you approach this cache you will have undertaken at least a little strenuous exercise. Suggested quickest route is from Wilkie Crescent in Naenae.
As always the weather up on the hills can be a bit more challenging than down in the valley, and can change rapidly - come prepared.
The cache is a ~300 ml bottle and contains a log book only, along with a pencil and sharpener (but bring your own pen ... just in case).
