Geocache Description:

The Macquarie Lighthouse was being built in 1818 but wasn't operational until 1883.

The lighthouse is built next to Christensen park in Vaucluse. Today it's only used a few times a year for tours for the public. Tours are very hard to get into and need to be booked in advance. The view from the top is amazing, you can see out to sea, past Sydney heads as well as right across the city.
