Geocaching NSW would like to extend an invitation to all geocachers to travel to the picturesque Mid-North Coast region of Port Macquarie and Laurieton for our 2015 Regional Invasion during the weekend of the 14th/15th February.
Port Macquarie is a shade over four hours drive from Sydney, travelling mainly on freeway conditions, so it is well within the reach of many geocachers.
There are lots of fabulous geocaches to be found in this region so why not team up with a few friends and enjoy a fantastic weekend of geocaching fun.
On the Sunday morning, we will enjoy a Meet’n’Greet activity at the summit of the beautiful North Brother Mountain located in the Dooragan National Park which boasts some of the most spectacular views of the Camden Haven River and surrounding areas that you will ever see.
Event details are as follows:
Date: Sunday, 15th February, 2015
Location: North Brother Mountain, Laurieton
Time: 10:00am to 1:30pm
Access: Turn off Ocean Dr into Captain Cook Bicentenary Rd at West Haven and travel approximately 5km to the lookout and picnic area (see additional waypoint). Although a paved road, it is quite steep and narrow and not suitable for caravans.
What to Bring: Please BYO all food and drink requirements for yourself. There are some BBQs available. Unfortunately, there is no coffee shop/take away food available at the summit. It would be a good idea to bring folding chairs and/or a picnic rug for your comfort. Toilets are available.
Photograph: The official Invasion Event Group Photograph will be taken at 11:30am so hope you can be there for that.
There is plenty of accommodation in the Port Macquarie/Laurieton area including B&Bs, hotels, motels, caravan and camping parks. An internet search will come up with a number of options for you to choose from.
Events are a great way to meet new people and make new friends with a common interest, pick up the latest information on equipment, techniques and software and share stories about the latest caching adventure. You may even pick up a hint or two on those annoying DNFs.
