Welcome to ODU's Student Recreation Center (SRC)! The SRC is home of the Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP) tucked away on the North side of the building. OAP is a program run through the ODU's Recreation and Wellness department. Goals of the program include increasing participants' appreciation and protection of natural resources as well as opportunities for personal exploration, growth, and leadership development through their participation in outdoor activities.

Some of the programs we offer:

Trips-All OAP trips are open to current ODU students, faculty, and staff members. We offer a variety of trips throughout the year such as Surf & Yoga, Canoe Camping, Old Rag Rock Climbing, Peak Bagging, New Quarter Mountain Bike, Snow Shoeing, Wintergreen Ski Trip and Hike & Bike.

Indoor rock wall-The two-story rock climbing wall at the Student Recreation Center is a challenge that will test both your physical and mental toughness. Basic Clinics are offered during the semester and are mandatory for Recreation and Wellness members who are interested in climbing at The Wall. The clinics are given by climbing wall staff and include: Instruction on climbing equipment, climbing knots, practice on how to belay, climbing techniques, and a final belay test. Every participant must pass the Belay Test prior to climbing The Wall. Participants with prior experience may test out and not take the clinic.

Rental center-The Resource Center includes a variety of books, maps and files on local, national, and international outdoor recreation locations, outdoor "hard skills" and leadership resources. Stop by the center and an OAP staff member will help you plan your next outdoor adventure! Some fo the gear we rent out is tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, bikes, kayaks, canoes, sups, surfboards, etc.

Free Bike Share Program-The Bike Share Program offers FREE week-long bike cruisers to students. All rentals include a U-lock, basket, and helmet. We also offer semester rentals for $30.

Bike shop/learning lab-We have a bike shop stocks with Park Tools where one of our techs can help you work on your bike.
