Geocache Description:

You are looking for a bison tube with special camo that contains only a log.  Please bring a writing instrument. There is parking nearby with a slight incline to the area. This cache is sort of an homage to a tribute. For those who've been caching in the area for a little while, you may recognize it. Anything more would give it away. You veteran hunters should not find this too challenging.

Based on the best information available, this bridge was likely part of the Missouri & North Arkansas that ran from Joplin, MO to Helena, AR.  It is possible that it was part of the Doniphan, Kensett and Searcy (DK&S) but the information is not precise enough. The M&NA operated until the middle to end of World War II when striking railroaders caused it to be sold in 1945 but was never operated again.

A special thanks to Tom Pry's recollection of how the railroads operated in Searcy for the above information.

Today, the bridge serves as a seldom-used bicycle and foot path across Gin Creek with handrails and a concrete overlayment which exits out onto the parking lot between the Reynolds Center for Music and Communication and the Swaid Center for Health Sciences.

You can reach the cache without ever leaving the bridge.  Please be careful and report if you have any problems.
