The New England Trail, a National Scenic Trail, has finally reached the water. The NET's southern terminus was officially dedicated on June 8, 2014 at Guilford's Chittenden Park on Long Island Sound, and also coincided with Guilford's 375th anniversary celebration. Now you can walk from here all the way up to New Hampshire, only 215 miles away! To guide hikers through the town's historic district, blazes have been painted on trees and telephone poles. In addition to the new boardwalk, there is also a new information kiosk at the parking lot. For more information on the NET, go to http://www.newenglandtrail.org/.
Come and enjoy the new boardwalk and views of Long Island Sound and begin your hike up to New Hampshire.
