Geocache Description:

The Sixth cache in the NOVAGO 12 Days of Cachemas series.  A night adventure following your own Star of Wonder.

Welcome to 2014 Cachemas in NoVAGO!

This cache is the sixth in the series: 6 G33k$ a Pl@ying

A holiday treat from all of us at NoVAGO! The 2014 Cachemas in NoVAGO Series (or CiN for short) is a 13-part journey based on the 12 Days of Christmas that will take you on a tour of Northern Virginia. From Arlington to Purcellville to McLean and beyond, happy holidays from NoVAGO to you!

Each cache in the 2014 Cachemas Series can be found individually, but make sure you collect the clue inside. You'll need it to find the 2014 Cachemas Bonus! The clue is hidden in plain sight in each container and is in the format "[+-]#.### [+-]#.###". More details can be found on the Bonus cache page.

This night cache takes you into the heart of Old Town to enjoy the wide variety of people, shops and scenes you will encounter while searching for bright stars to follow on your journey.  Brighter flashlights work better than regular flashlights, and really bright flashlights work better still.

You begin your journey at the market square that originates from the very beginning of the town, perhaps the oldest continuously operating site for a market in the United States. You are searching for white reflective tacks, reflective tape, or other reflective items placed to lead you on an exhilerating stroll through town, including lovely streets filled with historic homes.  No reflectors have been placed on private residences, so please remain on public property at all times.

Old Town is a popular place, so plan to be discreet as you wander in and among lots of people.  It is often easier to see the next shiny star if you are holding your light at eye level, but that also makes it harder not to stand out.  When you find a star, go to it, for that is your spot where you will search for the next one.  Take time to enjoy the sights and sounds around you, paritcularly during the holiday season.

There will come a point in your journey, probably after you have already started wondering when the trail would end, where you will find a set double tacks and information you need to finish this cache.  Peek around the object holding the double stars to see if there is another star on its opposite side.  If so, good. Time to take out your number two pencils.

Interlude: the Mathy Part, poetically rendered:

Now take a waypoint, right There where you stand,

And ponder the new decimal digits in hand.

Gaze at the stars where you now rest, for the things that you need to finish this quest.

See the two “L”s, and the two digit number they limn,

Multiply it by seven, to your North those add in.

Next use the two digit AL number, times five,

To subtract from your West, and prepare a drive.

Mount your steed, load your car, or get on your bike,

And seek out the next spot, and bring your bright light.

The stars you have sought will again steer you right.

The last of the trail will mark journey's end,

Remember the bonus, and part ways as our friend.
