The Big Tree

This is our families first ever placed cache.  Certainly this isn't the world's biggest tree, especially because it no longer towers over the rest of the trees in this area, as it has fallen over.  But it was the biggest tree that we had seen.  So this cache is a tribute of sorts.

A few years ago while seeking another cache in these woods, we came across this tree.   I was very impressed by the size and girth of this tree. 

And then a few months ago, while walking along the trail with a newbie geocacher who is 7 years old, I pointed out this big tree, and he suggested that we put a cache here for other people to find.

I had been contemplating putting out our first geocache, but wanted it to have some other significance than just the cache I placed.  And so that's exactly what we are doing.

This is a nice park, with a few trails to explore.
