Vlei Ramble 3 - What a Hide

The Kgaswane Mountain Reserve is a place of special beauty, an escape into a mountain range of great natural appeal and an ideal destination to take tourists or out of town visitors for a day outing. Day visitors are welcome to enjoy the self drive route on tarred roads which links a number of picnic sites and view points.

The Vlei ramble, less than 2km, takes visitors on an easy hike to a viewing hut on the vlei - a favourite spot for the many birders who enjoy the reserve. You can also see zebra, red hartbees, eland, impala, sable antelope and waterbok on the backdrop of the most amazing landscape from the hide.

The starting point of the trail is in the same area as the end point of the Peglarae trail and care should be taken not to head off on the Peglarae trail. From the given starting point make sure that you spot the first yellow trail marker that will point you in the right direction. The trail was not well maintained when the cache was placed, so be sure to make use of the trail heads provided, otherwise you might end up on the wrong track.

This hide has recently been rebuilt by a prominent mining house in the area.
