In spite of a very prime location, this shopping center has been no stranger to turnover. I remember when the antique store was a hardware store, the bank was a fast food joint, and the newly opened tile store was a big drugstore. One of the more interesting remnants of this shopping center is a detached pharmacy drive through, where customers used to be able to pick up prescriptions through a pneumatic tube system.
I suppose that the tile store stocks a few items small enough to fit in one of the tubes, and a drive through could potentially be a nice service for their customers. But, based on the scolding I once received from a bank teller for putting too much rolled change into a tube, that's probably not feasible without some serious retrofitting. So, here it sits, an idle monument to what was once a unique, state-of-the-art service offered on these very grounds. Perhaps one day this structure will be repurposed (or more likely, torn down), but for the moment, we can continue to enjoy it in our own special way.
