Five friends were having a fun day out geocaching when, racing to be first-to-find, they each suffered a mishap and had to be taken to hospital. In the midst of all the mayhem, their admission notes were misplaced, so the house surgeon doesn’t know which nurse has been assigned to which patient. Use the clues to determine each nurse’s name (first and last) and their patient's first name, age, and ailment. This information will then allow you to work out where the missing documents can be found.
The patients: Samuel, Sarah, Silas, Suki and Sybil
The nurses’ first names: Angie, Florence, Jerry, Miranda and Peter
The nurses’ surnames: Cutts, Hurt, Payne, Soares and Ward
Patients’ ages: 72, 46, 33, 23 and 13
Patients’ ailments: bumped head on low branch, stung by bees, twisted ankle, sunburnt, dehydrated
CLUES:
- Sarah is 33-years-old.
- The five nurses are: Flo; the one caring for the sunburn patient; Mrs Ward; the man looking after the 72-year-old; and Peter Soares.
- The five patients are: the 46-year-old who twisted her ankle; the one who didn’t see the branch at head height; Sybil; the teenager who forgot to slip, slop, slap; and the patient who has a severe allergy to bee venom after being attacked by a swarm during her first year at university about 15 years ago.
- Suki is older than Silas but younger than Mr. Payne's patient with the bad headache.
- Mrs Ward's patient went in to anaphylactic shock.
- Sybil, who is being cared for by Nurse Cutts, is younger than the patient using crutches to get around, but older than Miranda’s charge, who, despite their tender years, is furious at having been put in the children’s wing.
