Geocache Description:

After a recent cache hunt with some fellow ,cachers, I again realized what a great walk this is. Yes, its a walk in  the park compared to some other routes on Table Mountain, but hey not everybody needs that adrenaline rush when out on the mountain. This is the perfect walk for those who just want to get out there. Yes, it is a linear route, but in Cape Town the views there and the view back is completely different.  At the moment the pipetrack also promises a few caches for the novice geocacher (I say that because the old hands would have done all available caches here already) depending on how fit you are or how far you want to walk, as it stands if you reach this cache you should have sixteen caches in hand and would have walked between 4.5-5kms, remember you still have to walk back. Continue all the way to "GCNWT3 - Oudekraal April Fool" and you could bag twenty for the day.

The cache itself may prove a bit jumpy on your GPS or other device.  The walk will bring you to Slangolie ravine, and the path will cross a concrete section with a chain on the right to protect you from the drop.  In winter and after rain there will be a small waterfall cascading from above so come prepared.  It is however safe and due to the nature of the concrete there is good grip underfoot.  Shortly after this you'l' note what seems to be a cave .  Here be GZ.  Professional headlamps are not needed, but a little torch, and even your phone "torchlight" will suffice.

As a note, please note that some inconsiderate people will use any nook and cranny to leave there litter etc, by all means make a note of it, but lets all undertake to do some CITO (cache in trash out),  lets try and leave our mountain in a better shape than what we found it.  We can moan, or we can all do something about it.  Its your choice.

Sadly though, I would suggest you walk in a group of at least two or more, no matter where you are its never a good idea to walk alone. Also be sure not to leave any valuables visible in your car. Be sure you've closed all windows (unlike me) and lock your vehicle.

I use caching as an excuse to get out hiking more, I suggest you do the same. As much as we enjoy finding the cache and earning another smiley, don't forget to enjoy the journey, enjoy the walk there and take in the splendour of Table Mountain.
