Basil the Bloodhound is sadder than usual. He is struggling to find a good spot to settle - what with iffy GPS readings and light-fingered muggles - and, to compound matters, he knows there's a cache somewhere near here, but he's got the most awful cold and can't smell a thing. It would really cheer him up if you could help him sniff it out.
If you've ever been stuck at a hospital - either as a patient, a visitor or a support person - you'll know how much waiting around there is. So why not get some fresh air and a cache during those boring periods in limbo? The cache is not on the grounds (so you'll need to change out your hospital gown!), but it is very close (in case you have to rush back).
And just because I like trivia, here are some facts (that I have not verified) about blood:
- An individual blood cell takes about 60 seconds to make a complete circuit of the body.
- The rarest blood type in the world is A-H, which has been found in less than a dozen people since it was discovered.
- There are 62,000 miles of blood vessels in the human body – laid end to end they would circle the earth 2.5 times. That's an awful lot of geocaches if one were to be hidden every 161m!
- A newborn baby has about one cup of blood in circulation. An adult human has about four to five quarts.
