Geocache Description:

Here in the woods, rapidly being reclaimed by Mother Nature, is the site of a brush arbor. It was a place for a camp meeting, a revival, a week long religious meeting for the community. Before the gathering began, local men met and built the arbor using saplings and branches cut in the surrounding woods. A crude wood frame was built, no walls and a roof of thatch of pine boughs and cedar branches.

The first night of the revival the lanterns were lit and worshippers gathered. Held during the humid summer, the brush arbor revival began in the evening. Ladies wearing flowery print dresses, the men their work clothes, most with brogans for footwear. A pulpit built of a post with a board to cradle the preachers Bible, and a strong rail next to it to bear the fist slamming of the preacher as he worked to run the devil out of the congregation.

After a week of evening camp meetings the revival ended; and the brush arbor abandon to Mother Nature to reclaim. The last Brush Arbor Revival was held here in the summer of 2000.
