Geocache Description:

This cemetery found on a hill in Sweetwater , Tx is the oldest in town.  The oldest marked grave is dated 1880 one year prior to the founding of Sweetwater.  Many of the tombstones are handcrafted with several wrought iron fences surrounding the grave sites.  Many of the people buried here are pioneers, immigrants, community leaders and civil war veterns.  It reminds us of the hardships of pioneer life and allows us to reflect on the history of this community.

This cache is hidden in a typical cemetery located in Central and West Texas. The variation in Headstones and the dates remind us of people that lived before our present time.  This is a micro container with a log only.  Please bring a pen and paper clip to remove and sign log.  Enjoy exploring the cemetery and learning about a different time than ours.  I will continue to post several caches in our local cemeterys for those interested.
