Geocache Description:

Located in Southeast Fisher county, this cemetery is named after one of the earlest settlers, Jim Newman.  The Jim and Mose  Newman family were large land holders that had holdings in Fisher and Nolan County and gave extensively to area as time went along.  The Sweetwater High School and Nolan County Coliseum were at one time land owned by this family. This cemetery is all that remains of the town of Newman  that was deeded by this pioneer family.


This is a typical north central Texas cemetery located in rural fisher county. Elev: 1861 Ft.  Open and shut gate and enjoy reviewing  early Texas history while looking for this micro cache .  Bring a pencil/pen and a paper clip to retrieve log and sign.  As always be respectful of your surrounding.  This is another cache placed at the cemeterys of Nolan, Fisher , Scurry and MItchell counties.  Enjoy the trip off the beaten path!!
