This cache is located at the former Hasey farm just west of "The Masons". From Brown's Mountain the Hasey family moved to Clydesdale where they lived for many years. Take the Brown's Mtn. Rd. to N45 38.341 W062 07.224, park here and follow your GPS. This hide is winter friendly and while not in the foundation very close by. A truck (4x4 if snow) is recommended as washouts are common at times.
The Brown's Mtn. Rd. was once known as the "Old Post Rd" and besides the now Rte. 245, was the only other route between New Glasgow and Antigonish. The mail service to Antigonish travelled this road as well as passenger service via stagecoach. Children from the 50+ families also attended the one schoolhouse from May 1st to December 1st each year. The last occupant of the mountain was believed to have left in the 1930's.
Spruce trees now occupy the once cleared fields leaving only the foundations as evidence of occupancy.
