Geocache Description:

The cache is placed in the heart of the village of Bigonville. You can search in a discrete way, even if there are some muggles around.

Bigonville is a small village in the municipality of Rambrouch, in western Luxembourg. The village has a population of 558(as of 31 December 2013). Important Roman road installations connected Bigonville to the Roman Empire. The origin of the village may have started with Roman buildings and installations. After the decline of the Roman Empire, the village changed authorities several times. A castle was built and the village was ruled by the local dignitaries. Bigonville firstly appeared in official documents in 1300. The French revolution ended the reign of the Lords of Bigonville. The French State system was installed in Luxembourg, creating cantons, districts and municipalities/communes. Bigonville was a commune in the canton of Redange, until 1 January 1979, when it was merged with the communes of Arsdorf, Folschette and Perlé to form the new commune of Rambrouch. The law creating Rambrouch was passed on 27 July 1978.
