As you approach while traveling route 3 through Trenton slow and turn onto the newly constructed Gateway Center Drive and make your way past the Acadia Gateway Facility where you will see the trailhead and kiosk. Plenty of parking and a great way to start the vacation on MDI. This is a quiet spot with well maintained, marked trails providing a moderate level walk in the woods away from the congestion of some of the other very popular trails on MDI. You will find a place to sit next to a stream about half a mile in.
The Trenton Community Trail is a 1.8 - mile loop that travels through a variety of forest communities in different stages of succession. A spur trail, highlighted in white, leads to a boardwalk and viewing platform that overlooks a native dwarf shrub bog. There are interpretive signs placed along the trail routs and at the boardwalk.
