Geocache Description:

Great Amwell is a small village between Ware and Stanstead Abbotts.

It has been the home to some significant characters including: Izaak Walton - a notable angler, John Scott - a Quaker poet and Harold Abrahams - an Olympian.

Look out for a small bronzed sculpture near the base of the village sign. This was designed and made by one of the children from the local school. There are several others between here and Hertford, mainly along the New River.
