IRONMAN 70.3
Also known as the "Half Ironman" because it is half the distances of the full Ironman, 70.3 gets its name from the total distance of the race, as measured in miles. 1.9km swim (1.2miles), 90.1km bike (56miles), and 21.1km run (13.1miles).
Held in East London, the Ironman 70.3 South Africa is a great challenge for those entering triathlon.
It's known as the second toughest course in the World, and showed why with the high drop out rate in 2015. While the course is the same every year, the wind direction and strength, as well as temperature and humidity play a part in making each race unique.
I have completed four consecutive Ironman 70.3 South Africa's, and love nothing better than analysing the data.
A triathlon consists of a swim, a bike and a run, with "transitions" between to allow separate time allocated to getting changed in as fastest time as possible between the disciplines.
