The View from the Summit of Death's Head:
WINTER ACCESS: This route is available year round, and will be a 14 kilometer round trip with 300 meters of elevation gain. Park at the winter parking spot. Cross the bridge and walk along the road to the Threepoint Creek Trail. Head West along the Threepoint Creek Trail until you intersect the North Fork Trail. Head South on the North Fork Trail until you are close to the base of Death's Head. Go off trail and scramble your way up Death's Head to the summit. A more adventuresome winter route follows directly up the East ridges of Death's Head. If you don't like bushwhacking this isn't for you! I used this adventuresome route to place the cache - it was about 7.5 kilometers with 300 meters of elevation gain - taking us 3 hours in total.
SUMMER ACCESS: This is by far the best route! This route is available from May 15 to December 1, and will be a 3.3 kilometer return trip with 220 meters of elevation gain. Park at the summer parking spot on a pullout on the East side of the road. Cross the road and at the sign "No Motorized Vehicles", head up a cutline access road. On reaching a NW-SE cutline, turn left. At a cairn, turn right off the cutline onto a trail. Follow the trail up to the summit.
