Ever try one of those "lonely cache" challenges??? You know the ones where you have to visit a certain amount of geocache hides that have NOT been found in a certain amount of time, in order to gain a certain amount of "points"??? Well, here is another of those pointless challenges.
However, instead of accumulating "points" (that is too easy) you, the adventerous geocacher that you are, will still have to actually VISIT a certain amount of lonely caches in order to complete this challenge. I enjoy those lonely caches whether they be way out somewhere that you have to complete a significant hike or drive to get to, or those ones that have not been found in a very long time, the longer the better. The most "lonely cache" that I have found thus far was over 2.5 years waiting for me to come along.
There IS an actual geocache hidden at the provided coordinates. Actual D/T rating on site is probably a 2/2. Rating the challenge D/T as a 4/3.5 because this just may take you a bit to complete, plus you will most likely be going to some out-of-the-way places to make your finds.
Cache is placed along Old Hwy 77. I pass by this location daily going to/from work on Fort Riley. Be careful when looking for this cache during Monday-Friday for this road can become quite busy with soldiers and/or civilians traveling during certain times of the workday as follows:
5:30 A.M - 9:30 A.M. (soldiers traveling to/from Physical Fitness Training and civilians going to work);
11:30 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. (primarily soldiers going to/from lunch);
3:30 P.M. - 5:30 P.M. (EVERYONE trying to go home!!!!)
Some basic rules:
1) Like other "lonely cache" challenges, a cache qualifies if it has NOT BEEN found in 6 months or more;
2) You will need to visit 25 actual lonely caches. Yep - you read that write: you must visit 25 actual lonely caches. NO POINTS NEEDED!! If I can do it, so can you!!!
3) Either place in your FOUND-IT log your qualifications or make a bookmark, or GSAK snap-shot, or whatever of your finds so I can verify. If going the bookmark route, include this challenge in your listing. Of course, that means 26 caches must be in your bookmark. If placing in your found-it log, please make a format similar to the example I have provided.
4) Place the GC#, cache name, last date found before you, and date of your find. Simple enough!!
5) Other than events and CITOs (unless part of actual title), ALL cache types qualify. Also, ALL finds qualify since you started playing this silly game, even if some have been archived for whatever reason.
Just think, all those "lonely caches" will really enjoy your visit and they will not feel as lonely anymore!!!
