Geocache Description:

Murrumbateman is a lovely small village between Canberra and Yass best known for it's cool climate wines. At the time of publishing there were 17 local wineries with a number of wine festivals held throughout the year.

No one really knows the origin of the name Murrumbateman, however one legend suggests there was a pioneer in-keeper called Mr Bateman. His  ran a somewhat rowdy pub, where locals would ask for 'More Rum Bateman.'

The cache is a small sistema with room for small swaps and travellers hidden at the 'Welcome to Murrumbateman sign. Take care when parking, the road isn't very wide so perhaps try the drive way approx 25m on the Barton Highway side of the sign.

Congratulations to Team.Wallace on FTF.
