Geocache Description:

A beautiful 140 year old flour mill in a small town in southern New South Wales. Often travellers drive straight through without stopping... hopefuly this cache gives you reason to stop and stretch your legs in this lovely little town.

The Old Mill - This is a beautiful specimen of a building built in the 1800's.

Built by John Geldmacher, a naturalised German settler. In 1865 he began to assemble materials. During the next seven years he laboured almost unaided on the construction. The work was completed in 1872. The mill was then ready for use. The mill was intended as a flour mill - wind driven. It's a little odd what happened next... you'll have to visit the site the find out how well that went.

Its been stated "That some fine flour was produced." At a future date Geldmacher converted the flour mill to a timber mill. By 1885 the mill seems to have ceased. In 1961 restoration works were commenced.

(A side topic... See if you can find the typo on the main sign - present at the time of cache placement.)

Cache is a 1 litre tub.
