There are many people who served us in the Police and Fire Departments throughout the cemetery. A few are:
Henry Miller (Fire) 1865 -1904
Valentine Heim (Police) 1856 -1900
Frederick Karsch (Police) 1844-1880. Frederick was killed in the line of duty.
And one of the best known Police officers to Cincinnatians:
Arthur Mehring (Police) 1914-1968. He was the “Eye in the Sky”. In 1958, Art Mehring reported from a helicopter, the traffic reports on WLW radio. He landed his helicopter on the cemetery grounds. He also hosted “Signal 3”, a kids’ safety show on TV. The North entry road is now called Mehring Memorial Drive.
