From the small sandy beach at the car park, take the trail on the right up to the GPS location where you will find a number of abandoned structures. The cache is outside one of them, for your own safety do not go inside.
In the summer, there can be teenage muggles at this site so be careful ;)
The cache is a clear plastic container with a geocaching declaration, logbook, pencil, pencil sharpener and several items to trade. There is plenty of room for trackables.
The beach you park at is a lovely bay for swimming - bring your own drinks if visiting on a hot day as there is no canteen. The bunkers are left over from the war, and were positioned to protect the port of Lavrion which is around the next bay.
Lavrio is a lovely port town, with a long history going back to 11th century BC. The 'golden ages' were funded through the silver mined in the town. The hills around Lavrio are riddled with mines as a lot of ore, lead, and numerous other metals were mined here successively until it becoming uneconomical.
A visit now will bring you to a lovely little port with tavernas and cafes along the harbour area.
Also worth visiting:
Outside of town:
1) Coming from Athens (turn left at the traffic lights) the ancient theatre called 'Thorikos' - you can wander round without a ticket!
In town:
2) The tiny (literally one room) mineralogical museum
3) Palm tree forest
Note on cache maintenance: Gwen and Sarah will assist - thanks!
