Nether Silton all saints is basically a chapel of ease rebuilt in 1812 ,but in 1878 it was enlarged for village worship and convenience, the inscription that was built in over the door in 1812 is now in the west wall (probably relocated in 1878 when the bell tower and gallery were added) due to time and weather it is now illegible, but it did read
This chapel was built in 1812,
The Hon and Rt, Revd Shute Barrington, Lord Bishop of Durham,Fowler Hicks, Esq, Lord of the manor.
Church Wardens: Richard Hoggard and James Weighill.
In 1878 the Lord of the manor was R. M. Jaques and he presented the church with the alter rails which are believed to have come from the Royal Navy’s training ship HMS Dreadnought. The Norman font is tub shaped with cable moulding. Before the dissolution the chapel was appropriated to the priory of Guisborough; it is now served by the vicar of leake.
