Geocache Description:

8:30am-10am Breakfast at the Big Boy Restaurant
On the corner of E. Jefferson at E. Grand Blvd across from Belle Isle.

After Breakfast we will head over to the island shelter we have for the day, N42° 20.225 W082° 59.175. Here at 10:30am we will start our traditional raffle for a chance at a FTF on the many new caches placed for this year’s island adventure. We will have gpx files of the caches that will be on our laptops and jump drives. So bring your cables for downloads. Your jump drives will help as you can get the file and upload to your computer and then any GPS’s in your group. We will also have them available for your phones, so please send a note with the e-mail address as to where you want the file to be sent once we release them.

Be sure to also log a will attend so that we have a number for the pot luck and hot dogs. Be sure to bring your own drinks, munchies and maybe something for the pot luck lunch. Lunch will run from 12:00 noon and hot dogs will be served until 2:00pm or until all gone. This will be a drop in picnic, so cache as you want and then stop by for some food and socializing.

Be sure to bring your boots! Though you can get away without them remember that the snow just melted off and there is a lot of standing water. Also the geese love this island, do I need to say more?

Dusk will be the end to a great day!

Belle Isle is truly one of Detroit’s gems.
Spring is a great time to cache the island, less muggles, and cooler temps. There are caches placed in many interesting areas of the island. The 2014 caches will be available for this day along with the new 45 or so new caches placed for 2015!

All visitors will need a Michigan Recreation Passport ($11.00) to drive on the island. Be sure to watch your 25 MPH speed limit as the police and conservation officers will! All can order a Recreation Passport on line or purchase it on the island. If you are coming from out of town you can also team up with others before coming to the island to car pool.

Here is a link to ordering and any questions on the Recreation Passport: DNR Link
