Geocache Description:

Quitman, Texas is the home of the Governor Hogg City Park on Highway 37 South.  At its western edge is the Old Settler's Nature Trail, which will lead you to this cache.  The cache is a Pelican Geocache.  Not too many muggles, except on pretty Spring weekends.  Replenished with Geo Tokens.

This park is in honor of James "Big Jim" Hogg, the first Texas Governor to have been born in Texas.  He was the newspaper editor, and then District Attorney in Quitman, before being elected Texas Attorney General, and Governor in1880.  He cleaned up railroad monoplies, successfully sueing the powerful rail baron, Jay Gould, and John D. Rockeleller's Standrd Oil Company.  He is remembered for naming his daughter Ima Hogg, an odd name, which derived from a poem written by his' brother. The story that she had a sister named "Ura" is an urban legend.
