Medusa was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head, which retained its ability to turn onlookers to stone, as a weapon until he gave it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield.
It is believed that before doing so Perseus also crafted an amulet using some of Medusa’s blood which was prized for its unimaginable power, and untold menace.

Legend has it that in later years Leonardo Da Vinci’s once had possession of this powerful amulet. One of his works named the “Medusa Shield” is believed to provide some clues to where the current position of the Medusa amulet is.
However several of Leonardo da Vinci’s works have been lost to time, but the “Medusa Shield” is perhaps the most mysterious. Painted when the Italian master was in his youth, this early work took the form of a shield emblazoned with a creature inspired by the snake-haired Greek monster Medusa. According to a 1550 account by art historian Giorgio Vasari, the painting was so realistic that it initially frightened Leonardo’s father, who considered it a macabre masterpiece and secretly sold it to a group of Florentine merchants. The shield has long since vanished, and some modern experts now argue that Vasari’s account may have been little more than a myth.
We believe that the amulet somehow made its way to Africa. Around 1575 when Portuguese sailors explored the Southern coast of Africa. Manuel de Mesquita Perestrelo a Portuguese sailor was rumoured to have had a great collection of art. He also wrote a book that describes one of his art pieces depicting the head of Medusa.
We believe that he was looking for the Amulet but due to circumstances have never been able to find what he was looking for.
