Geocache Description:

Geocaching gets you out and about, visting places you have never been before, some just on your door step. A fun hobby that really opens your eyes to your surroundings and helps you get to know the area you live in

This road has a focal point of interest with a Victorian school half way along it. In 1886 whilst excavating gravel on Hanwell Common, seven Saxon graves were discovered. They were found approximately where the Oakland School stands today. Of these burials, it is thought that at least three were men with iron spears. Gold-plated copper alloy brooches were also found.They have been dated to between the 5th and the mid 6th century and attest to the age of this Saxon settlement in Hanwell.

This is a muggle heavy area in the morning and early afternoon due to the school a short walk away. The cash is right outside someones house but they are aware of the cache and happy for geocachers to explore the area but not to go into anyones garden. Best looked for before 9pm. If the log book is NOT found and SIGNED then a DNF should be posted. Happy hunting
