Geocache Description:

This is a small cache very close to the Scotland/England border, at the source of the North Tyne. Parking is available nearby in a layby. Stunning views on a clear day!

Kielder Art & Architecture worked with cancer charity Daft as a Brush to commission a sculpture to mark the source of the North Tyne river. The project will eventually mark the start/finish point for a new walking route from the source of the North Tyne to the sea and back. The sculpture marks the highest position from which water still flows into the stream bed during summer months. During the winter water can be found contributing to the flow a further 300m up the hillside.

This is the first collaborative cache placed by the Geocaching Lunch Club. We hope you have fun finding it and if you want a good spot for lunch we can recommend the local in Kielder!

The path itself is suitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs, although the cache is placed a little way off the path.

The cache is a small click and lock tupperware box.  When placed, it had a few things for the geokids, a logbook and a pencil.
