Another geocacher had given me a nudge down memory lane, so I decided to hide another RUA Townie cache .
Just on South Main Street on the west side in Townieville is where the Wauconda Central Railroad could be found. Nope, you cannot hop on and take a trip to Chicago. Nor is there any live conductors to yell out "ALL ABOARD!" - as the Wauconda Central Railroad is totally fictitious, made up by members of a group called the Lake County Model Railroad Club. With plywood, they created their own Railway in Wauconda,,except in miniature. This club started in 1971 and over 1800 square feet of tracks going every which way.
Anyway, I recall some boys in my class way back when saying they belonged to a 'secret society' but it turned out they were just hanging out with their dads playing 'choo-choo'.
Townies know this stuff!
