Geocache Description:

Palava cemetery is an early  pioneer cemetery located in Fisher county that has its roots back to the 1870's. It is all that is left of the the community of Palava.

This cemetery is located in southeast Fisher county. The town of Palava was once a thriving farming community where mostly cotton was grown.  As you look around the fields, cotton is still grown to this day.  Palava started out by being called Center Point, but when the post office was built here  the name was changed to Palava.  There is thought to be civil war veterans entered here that may date back to the 1850's as well as one Texas Ranger.  In 1954 the school consolidated with the Sweetwater ISD and the town slowly declined until all that was left was the cemetery to remind us of the pioneer families that once lived here.  This cache is a micro sized container . Please bring a pen/pencil and a paperclip to sign and remove log from container.  As always pleas be respectful of the departed and close and latch gate when entering and leaving.. This is another cache place in the Fisher, Nolan, Mitchell, Scurry and Taylor counties where historical places and cemeteries can be found.
