Bonhoeffer Botanical Gardens


Big things are happening at the gardens! Each day, progress is made on the facilities. This is the beginning of Bonhoeffer Botanical Gardens, part of an extensive project that includes Pilchuck Living History Farm and Research Center and the Stanwood Camano Learning Center, at Freeborn Lutheran Church.

A total of 20 acres will be planted with 1,048 plant species indigenous to the Puget Sound trough, the Northwest marine coast and the slopes of the Cascade Mountains, with an accessible boardwalk through wetlands along the Freeborn stream.

The cache is placed with permission. The project manager, David Thomsen is aware of the cache but the rest of the construction team probably is not. The gardens are supposed to be completed this Labor day. Please be respectful of the construction crew and do not block the driveway or impede their progress. I can't wait for the premier of this production. Judging from how it looks now it sure is to become an award winner!
