This cache is in Pooh Corner Bushland Reserve.
BCC has built a car park, tables, BBQs and Toilets here for our use. The track is a 3.9km round circuit called "Kangaroo Trail". If you walk the trail you will no doubt found out why it is called that.
The trail is a very easy walk BUT this particular cache does require a climb to access the location.
I do not know what this structure was originally, but I would be keen to hear what everybody's opinion of what it was for.
This is a small cache and you will need your own pen.
Former Defence land which was put up for sale in 2005, after intense lobbying by the group Friends Of Pooh Corner the area was transferred to Brisbane City Council and as a parkland reserve. As of 2010 there were significant numbers of Eastern Grey Kangaroos as well as Swamp Wallabies and Red Necked Wallabies. A number of RE's (endangered ecosystems) can be found in the area. Until the construction of sturdy steel fencing in late 2010 illegal dumping was a major issue in the area. Pooh Corner is now owned and managed by the Brisbane City Council but was previously owned by the Department of Defence. Its history includes being part of 'Camp Columbia' which housed American troops during the Second World War.
