Geocache Description:

St. John the Baptist is the oldest of the three Roman Catholic churches in the Parish of Clontarf. The foundation stone was laid in 1835. Building work took a few years. Mass began to be celebrated there in 1838 and the church was finished in the early 1840s.

The church was enlarged in 1895 resulting in an addition of seventeen feet at the chancel end of the church.

You do not need to enter the church grounds to retrieve the cache. There is street parking beside the cache - payment is due at the meter depending on the time of day. Free parking is available around the corner on Belgrove Road 24/7.

Public transport: The 130 bus passes the church.

The Church Micro IE series is open to everyone; if you have a church you would like to place a cache at then please contact THE_Chris through Geocaching.com. This is to keep track of the numbers of the churches and give you the general format for the cache page. In the UK there are thousands in the series so we have some catching up to do! Also, if you currently have a published cache at a church that you would like to include in the series, get in contact and we can add it.
