Kolektos, Mirtos


Leaving the village of Mirtos to the west you are facing the hill Kolektos (colossus) which is rising up 260 m above sea level like a cone. You may use the winding dirt road leading from the village to the base of the hill and later further on to the beach again. From the base of the hill there are another 300 m to climb up for gaining the last 90 meter of height, pretty steep, no footpath to follow. But it will be worth the effort: On top you will have breathtaking views all around over the sea, the mountains, Mirtos and the surrounding mountain villages.

Wasn't it Laotse (chinese philosopher) who told us: "Only he who knows his destination finds the way!"


Κόλεκτος, Μύρτος


Δυτικά του Μύρτου βρίσκεται η κορυφή του Κόλεκτου με 260 υψόμετρα. Ένας χωματόδρομος με πολλές στροφές σας φέρνει στην βάση του βουνού και μετά πάλι στην παραλία δυτικά του Μύρτου. Η βάση του Κόλεκτου είναι μόνο 300 μ μακριά από την κορυφή, αλλά πρέπει να ανεβείτε την απόκρημνη πλαγιά για 90 υψόμετρα χωρίς κανένα μονοπάτι. Μην παραπονεθείτε, αξίζει τον κόπο! Από πάνω θα έχετε καταπληκτική θέα στη θάλασσα, στα βουνά, στον Μύρτο και σε όλα τα ορεινά χωριά.

Λοιπόν, τι έλεγε ο κινέζικος φιλόσοφος, ο Λαό Τσε: "Αυτός μόνο που ξέρει τον προορισμό θα βρει το δρόμο!"


Kolektos, Mirtos


Der Kolektos (Koloss) ist ein kegelförmiger Berg (ca. 260 m über Meer) an der Westseite des Dorfes Mirtos. Vom Dorf her führt eine Naturstrasse schleifenförmig an venezianischen Bädern vorbei zu seinem Fusse und dann wieder zurück an den Strand. Die letzten 300 Meter (90 Meter Höhendifferenz) von der Naturstrasse zum Kolektos sind steil und schwierig zu erklimmen – einen klaren Weg gibt es nicht. Oben angelangt wird man dafür mit einem wunderbaren Ausblick auf das Meer und die Berge, auf Mirtos und in die umliegenden Bergdörfer belohnt.
