This is a New Year's Day cache, hidden at one of the village Pants. Don't worry, this is nothing to do with trousers - before mains water, the water supply for houses in the village came from public wells or water fountains called Pants. There are three remaining Pants in Shilbottle and although this one is arguably the most decorative, it's also the only one that is not protected by Listed Building status. This structure dates from 1868 and was commissioned by the Duke of Northumberland.
You're looking for a nano cache (bring your own pen!). Please take care next to the road and don't park on the verge or obstruct access for nearby residents.
