Geocache Description:

Original summary: "This is an easy on and off the Freeway. Great spot to drop off travel bugs!" The original cache at this site (GCH51Q "This-N-That") was archived in August 2013, just short of 10 years old, as it was then believed to be missing and out of play. Turns out it was there, and so it is now resurrected by a new owner as "This-N-That Returns". Also, this is a great example of a cache hidden in the "Original Stash" style.

The original listing can be found at the following address: GCH51Q "This-N-That"

Original description: "From this location along I-15 you have a great view of Tremonton to the East. Easy access to the cache. A 50 cal. ammo can hidden within a stones throw of the road. Stop and strech your legs and take few minutes to enjoy the view. Original contents : This-n-That, of course.  P.S. Don't let the local Muggles see you. The last two caches came up missing! Also make note of new Coordinates."

To clarify, from this site, to the East you can see Riverside and Fielding with Cache Valley in the distance.  Garland and Tremonton are around the corner to the south.  It is a great view nevertheless.  The cache is along the north shoulder of the dead-end dirt road, behind a bush west of the tree, much closer to the road than a stone's throw.  Look down at your feet for something that obviously doesn't belong there.  Snow cover will make the find more difficult, but not impossible -- gloves would be recommended.

When this cache was archived, I noted it because there was a chance that the cache was really still there.  I don't like the idea of "geolitter" left abandoned on our playing field, and so I've collected several pieces of geolitter in my years of playing.  I checked out the site and found the ammo can in its bucket ready for visits.  In fact, it had been visited by several muggles since it was archived.  (If you've ever had to pull off the freeway to a backroad because your 3-year-old can't hold it any longer, you will recognize this cache site as one that would be easily seen by a parent muggle.  Probably that plus some local kids that know about the cache.)  I contacted the owner to see about unarchiving and adopting it to me, but he didn't reply.  After a year letting the area rest, I've decided it's past time to re-list this cache.

The classic ammo-can-in-a-bucket-in-a-hole-in-the-ground style is no longer permitted under Geocaching.com placement guidelines, since it involves digging a hole in the ground.  Caches like This-N-That were grandfathered in when the rules changed, but no new caches are permitted that involve hiding or finding using a shovel or the like.  For the purposes of placing this cache for this listing, an existing 11-year-old hole was used and no new holes were dug, and therefore I believe it satisfies current placement guidelines.

We will try to visit to restock the cache from time to time with kid-friendly items for the family on the road.  Please trade with kids in mind and remove any garbage you find.

Happy caching and safe travels!
