Geocache Description:

Feel free to replace the log if needed.

Built in 1924 this filling station is one of the oldest buildings in Vega, Texas. When Route 66 was commissioned in 1926 this Magnolia service station stood ready to serve its travelers. Later in 1937 when the highway was paved and realigned through Vega it no longer took motorists directly in front of the station. However the station could be easily seen from the highway and continued to serve customers for more than two decades as a gas station.

The original gas pumps are long gone, the covered drive thru had been removed and the building was in a state of disrepair for years but local residents restored the station to its original appearance so that it will serve as a place of interest for tourists and a living snapshot of history.

Also on site is Quanah Parker Arrow. (Oldham Count #2) I am adding this cache to the Q.P. Arrow Bookmark list.

This location has had two other caches that are now archived.

Also, there is a small museum one half of a block east and historical markers north at the courthouse. UPDATE: 6-5-15
In the interest of keeping this one from being muggled I am adding a give away hint in case you are stealth-challenged or there are too many muggles around. let me know if it not there.
